My vision for my career is to work until kids watch television & movies, and dream about making them not just being in them. I want them to know that it is possible to be talented, have a unique voice and be heard, not just look a certain way.  I want to be a part of changing the percentage of black directors that we have in our industry.

I believe this career path chose me, I didn’t choose it. I feel called to tell stories for the people who can’t, stories that educate, and stories that help people in unique situations see themselves properly represented.  For me, one of the most important things a director must be able to do is listen and I believe my most powerful tool is empathy.

Directing is an extension of who I am as a person & artist.  I’ve worked on both sides of the camera my background as an actor ( My favorite moment was working alongside Academy Award winning Nicolas Cage)  will add a unique perspective because using my voice though my directing work is a way I am able to be of service in our community and help be a part of positive changes.  I see our industry is finally being held accountable and making a real effort to close the gap on opportunities offered to historically marginalized groups.

Recently I directed my 2nd feature length production, a TV film titled For The Love Of Chocolate, released internationally.  As well,I directed a US car commercial for LEXUS that celebrated Latin heritage.  Having successfully created  long and short form projects, I am even more excited about directing series and being able to work continually on projects that are important to our culture. Shows like All American, Shameless, YOU & The Sex Lives Of College Girls. All shows I love and have binged watched and can see my self directing.

Filmmaking is one of the most powerful art forms out there.  And television is the most exciting format filmmakers have right now to be able to bring countless diverse stories to the screens across the globe.  I aspire to direct TV series where I can do something special and continuously push the art form from project to project. I am working on becoming a director that Showrunner’s trust and know that their shows are safe with.

As I grow in this industry so does my desire to help tell stories as an director, I believe this is my true calling.
